Found: Vietnam Veteran Marines Ring

I found this gold Vietnam Veteran's marine ring with my metal detector and just now had time to post it up on the web. It's really pretty. I'm not sure what size it is, but it doesn't fit on my finger. Oh well! It features the US Marines logo on the top front side of a red stone, and an homage to Iwo Jima and Tun Tavern on either side. Great find!

NY Yankees Baseball Ticket Stub 1963

I have a collectible NY Yankees Baseball Ticket stub from the 1960's for sale. The date written on the items seems to indicate it's from 1963. Using a Baseball almanac, this event corresponds to a game against Detroit Tigers where the Yankees lost 4-2. The item has tape on the top and bottom edges and features pencil showing the date of the event. Pictures of the item are below.

Antique Bottle Found Metal Detecting

I was out metal detecting in a small woods and came across this antique bottle. It was out and mixed in with many other antique items but they were a bit too heavy for me to carry back. Anyone know what kind of bottle this is?

What kind of information do I need in order to get an appraisal?

NY Doorknob Relic found With Garrett Ace 250

I found this cool doorknob in a small field near where I live about 6-8" down. I don't really remember what it rung up as on my Ace250, but it must have been a pretty good signal for me to go for it at that sort of depth. This area used to be occupied by many Victorian houses (the town dates back to pre-Revolutionary War), but they demolished them in an effort to update the town. My guess is that this is one of the remaining parts of one of those houses. Pretty cool to recover a piece of local history!

Can anyone ID the time period on this thing?

1881 O Silver Morgan Dollar

Looking to sell my gorgeously toned Morgan Silver dollar! It's an 1881 O from the New Orleans Mint, which no longer produces coins. This coin is an authentic silver Morgan struck in 1881 and has natural toning that shows its age and the 90% silver content.

Diamond Silver Ring Find

So I went out using my Ace 250 metal detector today at a local park looking for some cool stuff in the ground. My day started out kind of slow, with only finding a common clad coin here and there among all of the metal bottle caps that lodged themselves in the dirt. There's a baseball field nearby, so it's likely that these are just from spectators to little league baseball games.

Pocketspill of Silver!

It's been a few days since I uncovered that silver diamond ring and things had been slow. I've been pretty busy lately, so I haven't had too much time to scope out good places to go metal detecting. I have only been able to slip in short hour-long hunts in the grassy patches near my apartment complex and it seems all I ever find is thin metal plates from when they constructed it. They always ring up as different coins so I can't even disc them out! But some things changed as I dug one of my better finds to date!

More after the jump!
